Program Learning Goals in Economics
Students will acquire:
Knowledge of microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, and market failure, and the ability to apply them to domestic and global economic issues.
The skills necessary to identify and analyze the economic dimensions of individual, firm, and social problems.
The ability to use an economic way of thinking to identify solutions to problems that are unfamiliar.
The ability to recognize the limitations of proposed solutions to individual, firm, and social problems and situations.
Major Requirements
Students must complete the Boler Business core, the major and elective courses in economics, and any specified support courses.
Business Core
41 credit hours, including EC 4499 and MOL 4461. A complete listing of the Business Core can be found under the Graduation Requirements for the Boler College.

All economics majors must take an economics comprehensive examination during their senior year. Consult the department for details.
Students who seek to double major in economics and finance can have their finance elective count also as an economics elective. Students are permitted the choice of taking course, Strategic Management, or course, Economics Capstone Project as their capstone course.
Dual Major: The economics major pairs well with majors from other disciplines within the College of Arts and Sciences. Dual major options include but are not limited to: Sports Leadership, Political Science, History, and Philosophy.
The economics major may also be paired with majors from the Boler College of Business, for example finance or financial planning and wealth management.
Students interested in pursuing a dual major should consult faculty advisors from both programs to understand course requirements and implications of the dual major for their personal situation.
Professional Experience: Graduation requirements include relevant professional work such as an internship or volunteer experience. This requirement is satisfied by completing BPD 4490.
