WJCU-FM

Students interested in radio, podcasting and electronic media have the opportunity to join the staff of WJCU, John Carroll’s award-winning non-commercial college radio station. Named the best college radio station in the world in 2024, the people’s choice best college radio station in the world in 2025, and the best small college radio station in the country in 2024 and 2025, WJCU is broadcast throughout the Greater Cleveland area on 88.7 FM and streams worldwide online at WJCU.org and on the WJCU App. The station offers an eclectic mixture of music, talk, news, and ethnic/foreign language programming created by students and community volunteers, as well as coverage of Blue Streaks and high school sports.  WJCU provides hands-on training in broadcast operations and content creation for interested students in the form of COM 1104 (Audio and Radio Fundamentals), a one-credit course offered each semester and open to all John Carroll students regardless of major. Students can earn credit for continued work at WJCU by taking COM 1905 (Experiential Learning: WJCU) after completing COM 1104.
